Practical information
Lesson Phase

The teaching phase is designed as an in-depth learning experience, where you work on personal growth, character building and spiritual deepening. You will go through a unique journey with military disciplines, lessons from inspiring instructors, experienced guest lecturers combined with groundbreaking outdoor training. For 3 months you will hang out with like-minded people, learn true camaraderie and immediately apply what you learn and work on personal, spiritual and physical goals. The training is in Dutch and English.

Outreach phase

In the outreach phase, a trip abroad is planned. The first introductory week will take place at a unique outdoor location. The goal is to get to know each other. Then you will settle at base camp and during the outreach phase you will visit a mountain area, where you will grow spiritually and explore physical and mental limits. Weekly during the teaching phase, there are also several outreach opportunities on Friday afternoons. With this, we want to teach students to put theory into practice. Therefore, we encourage the students to develop a witnessing lifestyle and a service attitude. The students are actively involved in the community. Furthermore, we have regular evangelistic activities.

After the teaching phase, it is possible to be sent out to fulfill 3 months of an internship placement that fits your vocation in a church, ministry or organization in Europe.

The Community

In the school building, we live as a community, consisting of the staff, students, volunteers and guest teachers. The students mostly hang out with each other and the staff members. The community is a warm bed in which students can build personal development and deeper friendships. We believe that living in a community will contribute to character building and has a positive influence on the spiritual life. Also, it is also good preparation for working in team and congregational settings.

Attending classes together, working together, cooking together, the moments of prayer, worship and encouragement brings tremendous spiritual growth in the life of each individual at the base. To encourage this, each student shares a room with a fellow student (men and women separated). For couples and young families, living rooms and multiple bedrooms are available by arrangement.

In the wing of the leadership school there is a classroom and a common room where communal meals take place and where students can relax. The building further offers many opportunities to work quietly, to sit quietly, as well as to relax. Furthermore, we live in the midst of beautiful nature, where hiking and sports are wonderful opportunities for relaxation. We ask students to also stay at the leadership school on weekends during the 12 weeks of internal training in order to build good relationships with fellow students.

Personal guidance

Each student is attached to a mentor who has regular conversations throughout the program about the student’s progress in study and spiritual growth in life. The mentor is available for prayer and advice. Through personal counseling, the academic year can have a deeper impact on the student’s life. You will receive a lot of personal coaching to help you fully master the teaching that will make you bear fruit in all areas of your life and your own calling. During the coaching sessions we will also discuss where you can (still) develop personally and you will receive tools to make great strides both in character and in competencies. You will receive coaching in these 4 areas:

  • Character Development
  • Learning Skills
  • Starting your own project, church or ministry
  • Leadership
Teachers & Education

Teaching is provided by Bible-believing teachers, spiritual leaders and pastors from various churches and ministries nationally and internationally. Our teachers have powerful ministries themselves and much experience in starting and/or leading them. They are going to take you to the next level. This involves collaboration with various churches, ministries and organizations. Under the guidance of instructors, experts by experience and guest lecturers, you will learn essential spiritual (leadership) skills and strengthen your character.

What does the program look like?

The training overall lasts 3 months, 6 months should you also want an internship period. The teaching phase is 3 months with 10 teaching weeks and 2 weeks of physical character training. The KMA begins with an introductory week at a unique outdoor location and after 5 weeks of classes follows a character trip in the mountains. After that, you have the optional option of a 3-month internship in Europe where we send you out and you work on your personal project. Class days are from Monday to Friday. Class hours are from 09:00 to 12:00. On Saturdays you are free and on Sundays there is a church service, where you are actively involved. The class period runs from January to April or from September to December. In the morning we start with a communal breakfast. In the afternoon we eat lunch together and in the evening we eat a hot meal together. Every Monday morning we start with the whole team at the base. In the morning we have classes and in the afternoon we have physical character training. On Friday afternoons there is an outreach to put into practice what we have learned. In the evenings you are free or there is communal time of worship, there are house groups or an evening of games and lots of fellowship. In addition to the regular weekly and daily schedule, there are unexpected elements built in where we challenge students to push their personal limits.

The Internship

There is the possibility (not obligatory) after the 3-month training, to follow another three-month internship: a practical phase. This prepares you for the start of your ministry.
Together with the student, a program (practical stage with learning objectives and personal guidance) is then put together. The student then learns to practically apply the theory under the guidance of a supervisor. We are happy to work out a suitable program in consultation with the student.

The Kingdom Military Academy maintains contacts with missionaries, church planters and evangelists who have their ministry in the Netherlands or elsewhere in Europe. Together with the student we look for an internship that is most suitable. The internships aim to put what has been learned into practice and orient to a possible personal ministry. The student gains knowledge of the various aspects surrounding missions, church planting and evangelism. In addition, the student learns to deal with a different culture, with different circumstances and with working as part of a team. Any internship costs of the practical phase are in consultation with the internship site. The student gains practical experience within a congregation, church planting project, Christian organization or within a mission organization. The purpose of this period is to learn to function independently, actively participate in the work and receive a piece of training and coaching on the job. Thus, a ministry in God’s Kingdom may result for the student from the internship period. The internship will provide the student with further clarity about his gifts and (future) calling and ministry.
